Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a small town situated on the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. Many people unfamiliar with the word often think that it's an island that's in the west of Montreal but in fact the West Island is home to every aspect of the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often mentioned, but her brief visit to the West Island was not. Brugel grew up in Courtice outside Oshawa Ontario. Her first ambition was to be an expert dancer. Then, a growth rate increased her height and she outgrew all of the dance partners she was able to have. She admitted in an article written by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. Once I was bigger than the size of my male companion, I stopped. A lot of former dancers go on to acting, and in the case of Brugel, it was a nudge from the drama instructor at her high school which pushed her in the right direction. She was encouraged to audition for a part in a school production. The teacher who suggested that she go after a role in the annual school production. When she was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. In the 20+ years that followed, Brugel has landed roles in more than 60 productions on both small and large screens. She attracted the most attention when she landed the part in the role of Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel played the role of the character of Rita on The Handmaid's tale which was filmed over ten years ago.
